A Collosal Book with consequences
Well, what to say? A magical experience in a retirement village with well defined characters, who set a scene of mischievous events that draws the reader into a day of the lives of the older generation. But there’s a delicious twist. You are drawn into the narrative. I could not put the book down and had to finish it.
Great read!
I laughed, was sad, but thoroughly entertained. As a matter of fact, I know someone like Wade.
Change of heart
I’ve just realized I didn’t enjoy the novel after all. It was like looking into a mirror.
Awareness balance - Higly recommended
The author did a great job balancing the emotional and often forgotten topic of domestic abuse and violence with an intriguing plot. However, the theme is always present – perhaps not on every page, but at the back of the reader’s mind.
The novel kept me pinned to the pages, and although I had an idea of where it was going, I was often wrong.
In the end I felt sympathy with all the characters – even for the despicable antagonist – there were no winners.
Required reading
Multiple seemingly loose ends and woven together for an unexpected, satisfying ending. Few novels feature a strong female character that is not a also a kick boxing expert outdoing men on their own turf. Here we have three very different, unforgettable power houses without surrendering their femininity. I enjoyed that.
The central theme is disturbing, and I often found myself pondering what I would have done in the character’s circumstances. It made me reconsider the moral guidelines I had grown up with.
I think there is a lot more to tell, and I hope the author considers extending where the characters left off.
Highly recommended.
